Triad Friends of Italy: Discover your roots

America was the dream. So much had gone wrong in Italy since the promises of Garibaldi. We were promised freedom, but just changed oppressors. Instead of the Borboni (Bourbons) we now had the Piemontese king. We were nearly taxed into oblivion. So we brought our dreams and hopes with us to America. But we never lost our love for our ancestral home What is your story? We hope to help you find it, share it, rediscover it, and enrich it at the Triad Friends of Italy

For Italians, family is everything, not sometimes, but always

Most of us have experienced family life in this way: Go to grandma's. Go to Aunt Edna's. Have Christmas with the kids. For Italians, to miss grandma's Sunday sauce (or gravy if you prefer) and not sit at the table was a sacrilege. You'd be ignored for months. So when the Triad Friends of Italy gets together, it's conversation, competition (usually Scopa or who makes the best sauce/gravy), making pasta, and remembering FAMILY. When you join us you'll recognize that immediately.

Where We're Located

Trinity Elms Community Center

This amazing location has afforded us a continuous place to gather and we are eternally grateful.

Regular Meetings

Our family gathers the SECOND Saturday of the month at 6:30PM and immediately you'll be smothered in love and FOOD! Each member family (or single) brings a dish to share and/or a bottle of wine. Not a wine drinker? Not a problem since there is usually a non-alcoholic beverage or coffee available. Meetings end sort of organically around 8:30 or 9PM.

Special Events

Twice a year we celebrate our heritage by learning to make pasta or focaccia or some other Italian plate that we then serve to each other. We also celebrate Natale (Christmas) with a catered (professionally) dinner and entertainment. We also invite special guests to give a talk or let us know a piece of Italian history or lore to help us grow
